A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party results provider. Chesapeake Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those searches on its own servers. If you contact us, the message itself is the information we receive and use to answer you.

Hosting services may retain standard logs such as an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the service and understand general readership. Cookies or related tools may support ordinary analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the service, resolve problems, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell lists of visitors or create profiles of individual readers.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Chesapeake, Virginia, and third-party records portals, libraries, archives, and search tools. The policy of the destination controls anything submitted there. That includes sponsored results supplied by a third-party company.
Who Might See Your Data
Hosting and support providers process technical logs for us. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Safeguarding Information
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only as long as needed for the purposes described here. There are no user accounts, so Chesapeake Residents Directory does not hold a visitor password or account profile.

The service is intended for adults, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor sent information, and we will remove it.

Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act, Code §§59.1-571 et seq., gives qualifying consumers rights concerning certain personal data held by covered businesses, subject to its thresholds and exemptions. Because Chesapeake Residents Directory keeps very little, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and relevant logs, then removing what is found. Use the Contact page for a request. A public record held by a Virginia or Chesapeake custodian is outside our control, so a correction or redaction request belongs with that office.
